NOW Summer Course – 17th – 20th August 2012.
NOW is organising its first band summer school – the location is University of Northampton, Avenue Campus, St George’s Avenue, Northampton, NN2 6JD.
It will run from Friday Morning till Monday Evening with a concert for all the bands and open to the public.
We envisage a non-residential course open to all woodwind, brass and percussionists. People coming from a distance could be advised where to stay. Cooked meals will be provided but they are not included in the course price they are extra. In order for you to have the hot meal extra you must pay in advance with your application as the caterers require precise numbers in order to make this cheaper. Refreshments including hot drinks are provided during breaks and are covered by the course fee.
This course will focus on excellence, musicianship, ensemble, balance, intonation, and technical expertise. Expert professional conductors and trainers will be brought in to work alongside NOW’s Musical Director Andrew Bassey to bring a course to remember. The Advanced Wind Orchestra will learn cutting edge wind music with a world premiere no doubt.

I can announce that international conductor, educator, adjudicator, columnist, and lecturer TIMOTHY REYNISH has agreed to conduct.
We are planning a guest professional soloist to give a master class and feature with the Advanced Winds in the final concert. Hopefully Rod Franks principal Trumpet in the London Symphony Orchestra.

A Master Class with the NOW Wind Ensemble led by Tim Reynish.
Art of Conducting Class and how conducting, Phrasing and Expression interact. This is for all, as all have an interest in this.
A class on Band Basics – how to achieve good ensemble, dynamics, intonation, balance, articulation etc. With the band.
Master class with the soloist.
A Massed Play in and a BBQ.
A Concert open to the public to round off the course.

£150 Standard Rate,
£140 concessions full time student under 21,
£130 Advanced Players beyond grade 8,
£110 UK Music College Students: you attend a UK Royal College or Birmingham Conservatoire.
