Dear Mr Bonobo, I write to thank you for your marvelous publication of Gorilla meets Ali on a Dark Night in Corby, a rare collaboration between the members of The Monkeys. We performed this piece in our last concert. Although the band enjoyed working on it in rehearsals I was somewhat concerned over the title. I need not have worried as the piece was a runaway success. Although it was only the second item in the programme the audience would not let us play any more music until we gave seven encores of the piece. In all my many years experience I have not had an audience reaction on this scale before. My telephone has not stopped ringing since the concert that night. I estimate there were some 6 - 7 thousand very disappointed people who could not get to the concert to witness the extraordinary spectacle. If you could get the composers to write a sequel I would certainly hire Six Fields Athletic Stadium, and just keep repeating the same two pieces all evening. The audience was rolling in the aisles. Bananas really are good brain food. |
