is a friendly, colourful and award-winning symphonic wind orchestra established in October 2005 by its Musical Director, Andrew Bassey, and a groundbreaking COMMUNITY WIND BAND COLLEGE. This BRAND NEW dynamic and exciting COMMUNITY educational SYSTEM plays predominantly new music by our very best living English composers particularly in the MAIN Band. As the main purpose of NOW is to provide quality instrumental tuition in the community as well as fun, we have 6 levels of playing experience - Andrew has also set up the NOW COMMUNITY Band for any player that is above grade 2 standard or has completed the NOW STARTER WORKSHOPS and STARTER BAND course.
Therefore you can join NOW even if you have never played a wind band instrument before!
NOW is expanding its numbers across all of its ensembles, so please don't hesitate to apply even if you haven't played for a while. The Main Band has been invited to perform in Carnegie Hall (USA) in a Showcase concert at the New York Wind Band and Orchestra Festival in March 2008, so this is a great time to join. Whether you have played in a County Group or not, NOW will help you develop your musical potential, in a friendly environment.
